Jim Carrey Crushing on Emma

in category of Gossip, Audra Rundle

How would you feel if Jim Carrey professed his love for you via YouTube in a way where you’re not quite sure if he’s kidding or not? Only one girl really needs to be able to answer that question – Emma Stone.

If you haven’t yet seen Carrey’s message to Stone, it’s worth your while to check it out. Carry is filming himself in what appears to be his home late at night. He speaks directly to Stone and states that if he were much younger, he would “marry her.” Yup, he skips straight to marriage and talk of the chubby-cheeked, freckle-faced kids they would have. He sadly acknowledges that he knows he’s too old for her, so he simply wishes her “continued success and artistic fulfillment, and most of all I wish you love and contentment,” Carry deadpans. The video ends with Carry saying, “That’s all,” and then awkwardly mouthing “I love you.”

Although some are calling it “creepy,” I’m going to go with the assumption that it is a joke and call it entertaining – even cute.

Stone appears to feel similarly. During her recent interview with New York magazine, Stone was asked to respond to Carry’s video. Keeping with her unexpected answers that make her so endearing, Stone responded with a little anecdote:

"Right before that video came out, we were at the MTV Movie Awards. Jason Sudeikis hosted … There was like five of us, and we just went on this tangent of talking nice behind Jim Carrey’s back. Jason was talking about how great [Carrey] was when he went to Saturday Night Live and how he was just like a comedic genius. Everyone was kind of weighing in, like ‘He’s the best. He’s amazing.’ And so when that happened, we all kind of talked to each other like, 'Weird, that was the guy we were lauding for, like, 30 minutes.' Have you ever done that?” she asks, looking at me earnestly. “Just all sat around a table saying nice things about one person? It was the greatest thing. You walk away, and you were just like, ‘That felt so good, to talk about how wonderful someone is.’"

Carrey should be stoked to hear her reaction. If he was joking, he’ll be happy to know she “got it” and appreciated it. If he was serious, well, at least she doesn’t hate him or fear him.
