Khloe and Lamar Say Bye-Bye to Reality TV
Defying her manager mother Kris Jenner’s aspirations for her lovely brood, Khloe Kardashian-Odom and her husband Lamar Odom, 32, have opted to take their realty show off the air. The second season, currently airing, will be the last.
According to TMZ, Lamar would like to take time away from having every iota of his private life speculated upon based on what appears in their half-hour show each week, so he can focus on revitalizing his NBA career as a forward.
Lamar seems to have weathered being in the Kardashian spotlight poorly, as he put up record career low numbers this season. He had been unexpectedly traded this year from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks. Lamar took a leave of absence from the Mavericks to be with his father who he said was “gravely ill,” but who later said he merely had the flu. After this season’s performance, he has been put onto the Mavericks’’ inactive list and will be lucky if he is only traded again. He may just be dropped altogether.
To prove how serious he is about his athletic comeback, the couple will be living in L.A. full-time and has hired personal trainers to get him back into tip-top shape.
The Khloe & Lamar show, produced by Ryan Seacrest, debuted last April on E! as a spin-off from Keeping Up With the Kardashians. For some unexplainable reason, the public is fascinated with the Kardashian sisters and has watched the spin-offs from the original series, including Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami and Kourtney and Kim Take New York.
E! is, of course, working hard to convince Khloe and Lamar to reconsider, but their minds seem to be made up. They are no longer interested; they are ready for some good old-fashioned privacy.
The couple’s hiatus comes as even more of a surprise since just last week the Kardashian family signed a three-year contract with E! for Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The agreement covered the whole family, netting them a whopping $40 million. This included spin-off shows like Khloe & Lamar.
Unable to completely retire from spotlight, the pair have conceded that they will make an occasional appearance on Keeping Up With the Kardashains. Khloe is a true Kardashian, after all.
