Kristen Stewart is…Totally Fine
Well, the wait is over. We don’t have to speculate anymore about how Kristen Stewart’s first post-break-up red carpet appearance will go. The crowd (kind of surprisingly) didn’t throw any rotten tomatoes at her; she didn’t break down in tears publically; and we have to admit, she looked…stunningly beautiful.
Stewart made her highly anticipated first red carpet walk since admitting to cheating on her ex-boyfriend and Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. Stewart showed the world that she is not only “okay,” but she is looking damn good. The 22-year-old stepped out into a sea of camera flashes in a stunning black and floral dress with sheer fabric between the floral details. Her long brown hair worn mostly down and to the side, creating a beautiful accent for her skin. Simply put, she looked gorgeous and was smiling.
Stewart was in attendance at the Toronto International Film Festival in support of her latest film, On The Road, which is based on Jack Kerouc’s novel of the same name. On The Road is set to hit theaters this December.
Stewart has admitted that she considered skipping the event (the public reaction to her cheating scandal has been scathing), but
she ultimately decided to be professional and show her support for her fellow castmates, as well as her pride in the project.
"We have been waiting for this thing to be unleashed for so long. It was sort of one of those situations where you just have to put yourself in your body and go appreciate the moment," Stewart said in an interview Saturday.
On The Road’s first world premier was in May at the Cannes Film Festival. At that time, Stewart said, "I would have been happy standing at Cannes with the entire theater booing it as long as I was in that row with my cast and with [director] Walter. We would have been fine. I feel so strong with these people, and it's so appropriate. I belonged there."
Ironically, after her public image took a beating due to her affair, Stewart stood a pretty decent chance of being booed at the Toronto Film Festival.
But perhaps we’ve misjudged the hardcore Twilight fans. Perhaps they aren’t as mad at Stewart as we thought. (Or, more likely, Pattinson’s extremely professional reaction to the scandal has soothed their anger a bit). There were actually some Stewart fans in attendance, showing their support to the actress and likely boosting her confidence a bit.
"You expect a lot of people at a Twilight premiere, but showing up at an On the Road Toronto film festival screening and seeing that amount of people is absolutely, disarmingly amazing," Stewart said. "It felt pretty cool."
Of course, Stewart is crazy if she thought she’d get through the whole event without the media inquiring about her and Pattinson. She was ready for the question and simply replied, “We’re going to be fine. We’re totally fine.”
