Your lifestyle, your quirk
Although she is just getting started in her career, 23-year-old Lily Collins has already made some very important first impressions; namely, with one of the most recognizable fashion icons of this century, Victoria Beckham.
Mrs. Beckham handpicked Lily to be the cover model and have an accompanying photo shoot inside of the September issue of Glamour, which Victoria guest edited. For anyone in the Hollywood scene, this is quite the honor. It’s kind of like if your favorite actor or singer of all time saw you in the crowd during a concert and decided you were so perfect, he sought you out and took you on a date.
"I was so honored!” Lily said about being picked by Victoria for the issue. “I grew up adoring the Spice Girls. And you can't touch her when it comes to fashion. She owns every outfit she wears. I don't know how she handles all of those kids – and in heels!"
Lily is resetting fashion standards simply by embracing who she is and what she looks like – naturally. She defiantly refuses to reshape and thin her thick eyebrows, confident that they look beautiful just the way they are. And she is right.
Lily also shies away from hiding behind large quantities of makeup. "Less is more. When I travel to Europe, I go days without putting anything on. It feels healthier. I just never understood the idea of caking it on. The more you have on your face, the more there is to smudge and go wrong."
Where does someone so young get her confidence and fashion-forwardness? Collins happily admits that she learns from many of her role models in the acting world.
“With Sandra Bullock, Julia Roberts, Julianne Moore, and Jennifer Connelly, they weren’t fussy with hair and makeup. They all exude this inner and outer beauty. I learned that no matter how big you get, it’s still important not to let anything go to your head.”
Way to be, Lily!
It’s good to hear Lily say that, because she is getting big – really big. The young actress has been acting since she was two and modeling since she was a teenager. Her more recent and well-known films include The Blind Side, Abduction, and Mirror Mirror, in which she played Snow White.
Collins’ next film to hit theaters is The English Teacher, and is about to begin filming the film adaptation of Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments novel City of Bones, co-starring Jamie Campbell Bower and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
