The Ma-Sheen is Calming Down
“For like, a two-week period, I was the most famous person on the planet,” Charlie Sheen admits in a recent Rolling Stone interview with Erik Hedegaard. He’s talking about his meltdown, of course, and the way we all talked about his possible insanity and/or lack of mental capabilities and/or possible drug addictions for a while. We all listened to his rants against Two and a Half Men and its creator, Chuck Lorre (“that low-rent, nutless sociopath). We listened to his warlock and tiger’s blood stories and his claim that he was “winning.” He’s gotten off that kick and is back on TV; for good or not, we don’t know. Though he’s still as wild as ever on the inside, in a lot of ways, Charlie has calmed down. At least for a while.
In the interview with RS, Charlie says he actually wasn’t “winning!” anything. “Clearly, a guy gets fired, he’s off on some fucking tour, and there’s nothing ‘winning’ about any of that,” Charlie admits. “I mean, how does a guy who’s obviously quicksanded, how does he consider any of that a victory? I was in total denial. ‘We’re winning.’ Kooky shit.”
Sheen admits to the thrill he got from being on top, and how he’s coming down from that a bit. “Here’s the good news. It was exciting as hell, being on the apex of that wave as it was cresting. Exhilarating. But yeah, it feels like certain ripples have reached their shore…whatever the hell that means.” Because, as always, the man can’t be serious for too long. Throughout the interview, he mentions some hard times, but it’s difficult to get him to speak about anything personal for too long. He doesn’t like being really open, surprisingly.
When Hedegaard first catches up with Sheen, he’s in trouble over a tooth. Charlie has a gold tooth that the powers that be feel is too “ghetto” to be seen a lot, so they make him paint over it. He forgets to paint it over on the day of the interview. That’s the worst thing he’s done in a while, he says. He may still keep porn stars in stock at his house, but he has dinner with his ex-wife Denise Richards so he can see his kids, and he has pictures of them plastered all over his refrigerator.
Is Charlie finally easing up? We hope so. He got a little crazy for a while, but it was because he was mad and upset. In his interview, we see him readily backing down from the spotlight for a while. He’s got the upcoming show Anger Management coming out, and he’s more focused on that than anything else. Maybe it’ll keep the man out of trouble.
