There is no denying that Mila Kunis is one of the latest “it” girls in Hollywood, but seeing her on the cover of InStyle Australia looking drop dead gorgeous in a baby blue gown with a plunging neckline, it’s a wonder it took people this long to pick her out of the crowd of pretty Hollywood starlets. What makes Kunis stand out? Her attitude.

Kunis has the looks people long for, but she doesn’t have the diva attitude that often accompanies such looks. In fact, she’s surprisingly straightforward and down-to-earth for someone who has been acting since she was nine years old. There are good reasons for this.

Kunis moved to the United States from the Soviet Union when she was seven years old. She did not speak a word of English prior to moving, and learned by simply being immersed in it when she was enrolled in second grade. Just two years later, her father enrolled her in acting school, and she immediately started getting parts on television.  Despite the early career beginning, Kunis’ parents did not treat her any differently than they would have had she not been an actress.

“I’ve had the same friends since school, and my parents gave me, as well as my brother, a great deal of responsibility at an early age. They didn’t treat us like little kids, they didn’t coddle us. They were honest and direct. My parents raised me without a curfew. They would say, ‘You have to be up at 6. When you go to sleep is up to you. Our recommendation is 9 o’clock. If you don’t listen, and go to sleep at midnight, you’ll wake up grumpy and tired, and learn your lesson very quickly,’” Kunis told InStyle.

Now 28 with a solid big-screen career, Kunis maintains her self-sufficient approach to life and desires simple things in life to be happy. When asked what her perfect day would be, she responded, “Go and have a yummy breakfast, walk around the beach, go to Santa Monica Pier, have ice-cream, ride the ferris wheel, watch the sunset, go to the movies, see a stupid comedy, and eat popcorn. Then I’d go home, and watch a new episode of Game of Thrones. That’s a hypothetical day, of course.” Do you think she’s thought about that one before?

Kunis can more recently be seen co-starring in the movie Ted with Mark Wahlbery, where she plays his girlfriend and makes him pick between his anthropomorphic teddy bear and her. If ever there was a creative plot for a comedy, this is it. Ted is in theaters now.
