Miranda Kerr’s Baby Talk
Miranda Kerr has made quite a name for herself as a supermodel, Victoria’s Secret Angel, and wife to Hollywood hunk Orlando Bloom. But her favorite role? Mom to one-year-old Flynn.
Kerr spoke with Harper’s Bazaar UK magazine about her love of motherhood for their August edition. She can also be seen on the cover, posing – of all places - in the beautiful gardens at Mike Tyson’s former New Jersey estate.
Being a highly sought-after supermodel who wakes up to husband Orlando Bloom seems like a life where every day is perfect, and Kerr doesn’t seem to disagree, although she has a specific description of perfection.
“To wake up to the sound of my son saying ‘Mama, mama!’ It’s the best sound ever. Then, I just love to get him out of bed and he can jump into bed with us, and we have cuddle time,” the 29-year-old Australian described.
Kerr seems to have transitioned into motherhood seamlessly. She enjoyed pregnancy and insists she didn’t worry about her 40-pound weight gain.
“I didn’t care if I got stretch marks … [or] back into shape,” she told the media. “My main focus was to have a healthy child and it didn’t matter to me if I could model or not. I didn’t have any aims to get back in shape.”
Kerr expanded on this statement in her interview with Harper’s, saying she was also far more concerned about breastfeeding than weight loss after pregnancy. “My priority was just having my son and breastfeeding, which was something I really wanted to do, and it came easily.”
The model then added, “I’m actually still making milk now but, you know, he’s got teeth.”
The combination of the extra 500 calories per day that breastfeeding burns, plus being a diligent student of yoga, brought Kerr back into shape quickly after Flynn was born. Although she wasn’t concerned about returning to modeling, she has done so and is more in demand than ever.
So, will there by any more little Kerr-Blooms in the future? “I think probably, yes,” Kerr said. “Having a child is the most incredible experience. What’s surprised me most is just how incredible the bond is between you and your child. To watch him grow and evolve every day is really inspiring.”
