New Piercing for Willow Smith

Willow Smith has changed her look. Again. She has even managed to one-up the surprise factor after her head-shaving stunt a few months ago by piercing her…tongue.

At only 11, Willow must have legally had the signed permission of at least one of her famous parents. There’s no word yet on whether it was dad Will Smith or mommy dearest Jada Pinkett-Smith. Either way, pre-teens countrywide are seething in jealousy that her parents would go along with something so dramatic.

Willow has been headlines for the past few months due to her drastic and unexpected changes to her appearance. Ironically – or perhaps in spite of – her first hit 2010 single called “Whip My Hair,” which went platinum, Willow decided to shave her hair off this past February. The young starlet shocked fans by suddenly posting a picture of her bald head on her Whosay and Facebook pages.

Willow’s hairstyle was also the subject of conversation when she first took a razor to just the sides, leaving the top long, in 2009. The brave new style ultimately became a popular fad, as Madonna’s daughter Lourdes and Rihanna eventually followed suit.

Soon after the 2009 change, Jada shared with George Lopez during an interview on Lopez Tonight, "Let me tell you, I'm lucky that's all she shaved. My mother's hair is that length and of course I had my hair that length when I was pregnant with her."

Looks like Mama Smith spoke too soon.

After completely shaving her head earlier this year, Willow decided to allow a tiny bit of hair grow back on top – just enough to dye. She then colored it fluorescent green for a few weeks before changing her mind and going with bright pink.

Willow rarely makes public statements, but she did take a stance on Twitter right after posting the first picture of her green head, putting those who feel she is spoiled in their places.

“I am regular person…. forget that… Nobody has a PICTURE PERFECT life… I am still just a child…” she reminded those who might criticize her style.

At 11 years old, she is just starting to explore different styles, attitudes, and beliefs as she decides who she is and who she will become as an adult. This is pretty typical teenage behavior in this country, so it seems that the only reason Willow’s maturation process making headlines is because her parents are famous and she is a rising celebrity as well.
