Olympian Shaun White Arrested

Shaun White is looked up to by millions of young fans around the world for his unparalleled snowboarding and skateboarding talent, but he doesn’t seem to take his role too seriously.The 26-year-old Olympian was arrested very early morning on Sunday, September 16^th for public intoxication and vandalism.

White was partying at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee last weekend, when he reportedly trashed his room, rock star-style. When the hotel staff confronted the very intoxicated White, he reportedly broke the hotel phone and attempted to leave the premises.

On his way out, however, White thought it was a good idea to pull several fire alarms, causing the entire hotel to be evacuated. White tried to split the scene by hailing a cab, but as he was climbing into the back of the car, a hotel guest informed the cab driver that the police had been called and were coming to arrest White. 

White then tried to kick the hotel guest and run away, but he was so inebriated that he ran into the guest, fell back into a fence post, and split his own head open.

Promptly arrested, White was first taken to the BaptistHospital to have his head looked at and stitched up before he was escorted to jail. What is sure to become his infamous mug shot depicts White with his signature long and wavy red locks pulled back into a low ponytail, his eyes puffy and tired looking, and his left eye sporting quite the shiner. No word if the black eye is from the fence post or from a hotel guest who jumped at the opportunity to give the young rapscallion what he deserved.

White is the world’s top snowboarder and one of the world’s top skateboarders. He won the gold medal in the half-pipe in the 2006 and 2010 winter Olympics and regularly wins top honors at the annual X Games. Shaun’s athletic success, combined with his own video game and clothing line, have made him a multi-millionaire who earns $2 million per endorsement deal.

It will be interesting to see how White’s fans and sponsors react to his arrest. Will he be shamed and chastised for setting a poor example to the millions of kids who look up to him? Will any of his sponsors drop him? Will he gain an alcohol sponsor, since he clearly likes the stuff?

The end result of White’s arrest will be more obvious after his trial. White’s court date is set for October 10^th.
