We’re guessing that Rihanna’s publicist may be a bit frustrated with the singer, who tweeted her own self-incriminating photo last weekend. Rihanna was one of many stars performing and partying at The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival this past week, but she was the only one who tweeted a photo of themselves handling what looked like cocaine. The picture in question is a close up of the 24-year-old Barbadian singer sitting on a man’s shoulders while attending a show at the festival and cutting up a white powder on top of the man’s bald head. Rihanna was fully aware of the camera on her, staring directly at it and making the effort to flip it off. The picture was accompanied by the interesting byline “Memories don't live like people do #coachella.”
Although Rihanna fans have been busy tweeting their reactions, questions, and expressions of support or disappointment in the picture, the only response Rihanna has offered is the tweet, “I'm crazy and I don't pretend to be anything else.” Many fans are calling the substance marijuana and saying the singer was rolling a blunt – which is still illegal – but last we checked, marijuana was not white or powder. Ironically, Rihanna had just addressed the issue of drugs in a recent interview with Mondanite magazine, saying she is sure she will not let the pressures of her business drive her to drug use like so many others in the industry. “That will never happen to me. I refuse to crack under pressure – in fact I thrive on it," Rihanna told the magazine. "So when I read about Britney Spears and Amy Winehouse who have suffered under it, it's sad. It is easy to criticize them but it happens. You just have to stay focused and keep your feet on the ground." Rihanna has opted to simply continue with business as usual, despite the flurry of fan comments on the suspicious picture. Last night, she sang at the “Unforgettable Evening” Benefiting EIF's Women's Cancer Research Fund held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel, where director Steven Spielberg was in attendance and eagerly snapped photos of Rihanna mid-song. The singer looked very put-together in a matching two-piece outfit of beige and navy blue stripes. Her skirt was a long and tight high-waisted number paired with a three-quarter sleeved loose fitting top. It was a style few people could pull off, but it fit right into Rihanna’s usual fashion repertoire. Also in stripes at the cancer benefit was singer Sheryl Crow, who eagerly posed for pictures with Rihanna. The “Umbrella” singer will most likely continue doing what she’s doing – promoting her upcoming film Battleship.
