Steve-O Breaks Up With Elisabetta Canalis

Perhaps the only thing more surprising than the news that the Italian model Elisabetta Canalis was dating the former Jackass star Steve-O is the news that it was him who put the very recent kibosh on their relationship. The public had collectively gone from “What in the heck is she thinking?” to “What the heck is he thinking?” As counterintuitive as the move seems, 37-year-old Steve-O actually made the decision out of an immense display of maturity and dedication to his new life as a sober individual. Apparently, after three months of dating and plenty of PDA, Steve-O forced himself to come to terms with the fact that Elisabetta, 37, may be a bit too wild. Not in the fun way, but in the “dangerous for a recovering addict to be around” kind of way.

”Steve-O dumped Elisabetta over her partying. He is extremely serious about his sobriety and did not want to be dating anyone who could jeopardize that,” an unnamed source told an online gossip site. Steve-O entered rehab in 2008 after a suicide attempt and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and having a drug abuse problem. He has been sober – and public about his commitment to stay that way – ever since. The source continued to say that, despite the break-up, Steve-O is trying to help his ex clean up her life by departing from all the partying.“He has hooked her up with some women that he knows to help her try and get back on a stable footing again, and she has been attending meetings. Steve-O said he thinks she's committed to getting control of her life again and that he will help her do that, he wants her to control the partying for her own sake. But in the meantime, he needs to distance himself from her,” the source explained.

Pictures of Elisabetta from yesterday suggest that she is doing just fine after the break-up. The 37-year-old beauty spent the day at the beach with friends. She showed off her amazing body in a tiny white bikini and even flirted with passing lifeguards. If she feels her life is out of control and needs help, she sure isn’t showing it. Elisabetta’s dating life was also in the headlines when she dated actor George Clooney for two years – a considerable amount of time for the notorious Hollywood bachelor. They split in June of 2011.
