Your lifestyle, your quirk
Most of you will agree with me that cutting your hair after splitting with your significant other is a bit of a cliché. Maybe I am being a bit sexist, but typically it’s the woman who gets a new ’do or makes some other change to her appearance.
Shortly after splitting from Katy Perry, singer John Mayer, who was becoming known his long hair, was spotted with a much shorter haircut. People.com reported the cut was done Friday at the Sally Hershberger salon by the owner herself; the magazine also posted a photo of Mayer with Mindy Kaling on Saturday night at the Sky Bar in Los Angeles.
I guess male and female celebrities really are just like the rest of us. A new hairdo, color, or cut is often the RX for a broken heart, just as it is in the movies. Often this good idea can go bad. I am not sure changing your hair is always the best idea, especially if you’re not in the best frame of mind. But change is good, and then you can obsess on loving or hating your new hair, because usually it’s something out of the ordinary, like a drastic long to short or blond to dark, and vice versa.
I don’t think anyone actually ever says, “I just broke up, so I’m hacking off my hair.” It’s just one of those things that sort of goes without saying. Besides, hair usually grows back, and there are definitely worse things you can do to try to soothe your soul.
No one but John knows for sure what spurred the cut; maybe it wasn’t a declaration of “I am so over her.” After all, he didn’t go bald, get dreds, or dye his hair blond. Seems like the singer was functioning just fine before the cut, as the site noted that he’s been out and about, flirting away.
Anyway, from all angles, it looks like John Mayer is back to his old self and ready to write…or perhaps just inspire some more hit songs, which could be good news or bad.
