Victoria’s Secret’s Photoshop Fail

in category of Gossip, Audra Rundle, yikes

I have to admit, looking at recent Victoria’s Secret catalogue models gave me the heebie-jeebies. It’s nothing new for the women of Victoria Secret to be unfairly beautiful and seemingly perfect, but some of the pictures in the past year have been downright unnatural. As in, not real.

Currently, Victoria’s Secret is under siege from customers who are upset over the company’s use of Photoshop, not to mention how poorly some of the pictures are done. The most current Photoshop fail shows a close-up of a woman’s bottom – or lack thereof. The pictures has been so heavily altered, that the woman’s inner thighs are completely missing. Her legs appear so unnaturally bowed, one must wonder how that woman is supposed to walk.

Victoria Secret Photoshop FailThe ad is for the new Swim Style Finder promotion. It appears on the Victoria’s Secret Facebook page as the main image, with thumbnails of the model in different black swim bottoms. The thumbnails show a rear end that doesn’t seem to exist in the main picture.

The picture has received more than 2,000 negative – and in some cases, angry – comments about the unrealistic lower body shot. While some of the comments focus their disgust on that one picture, other comments are calling for Victoria’s Secret to stop using Photoshop altogether in an effort to portray women in a realistic way, rather than encouraging their customers to shoot for impossible ideals.

The first to comment was Laurel Sprague of Westminster, PA. She wrote, “So obvious this is not her butt. The most beautiful girls in the world and they still have to be photoshopped to perfection??!?? What the heck is Victoria’s Secret saying with this choice of action here....wow.”

Victoria’s Secret has had some of their photoshopping mistakes called out publically in the past as well. Last year, model Candice Swanepoel was pictured modeling the Miraculous Multi-way Push-up Bandeau Top, and her shoulders had been altered to be unnaturally wide and bulky.

Another issue from last year showed a model in a blue linen beach romper with her inner legs completely missing. It created the appearance of insect-like thin legs on the model. Looking at the picture, something is obviously off. If her legs were really that skinny, they wouldn’t be able to support her body. Considering that the model probably weighs 100 pounds in real life, that is saying a lot about how small her legs were in the picture.
