Your lifestyle, your quirk
Blake Lively may be the face most commonly brought to mind when the CW teen drama Gossip Girl is mentioned, but fellow gorgeous co-star Leighton Meester is really coming into her own and making a name for herself. Meester is currently adorning the cover of Lucky magazine and provides an interview within, as she is out promoting her upcoming film That’s My Boy.
Meester looks like the gorgeous girl next door in her cover shot for Lucky, with her hair down and wearing a summery blue, white, and yellow Dolce & Gabbana dress.
The fresh-faced 26-year-old came across as very relatable when she told the magazine with a smile about how her time in Hollywood has really changed her approach to fashion.
“My friend says that before the show I dressed like a homeless person. I used to buy everything at garage sales. It was hard to give up! I’d be like, ‘But this crazy sweater is amazing, and it only cost 25 cents!’ I’ve learned from Blair [her Gossip Girl character], though. Now I like to pepper in something designer with my usual stuff.”
It was also refreshing to hear that Meester is okay with her natural look.
“I’ve stopped wearing makeup when I’m not working,” She said. “For a while I thought I had dark circles and bad skin, and then I realized I was seeing myself that way because I didn’t recognize myself anymore without makeup. Now when I wear it, I think I look really weird!”
Although Meester is currently known for her role on Gossip Girl, her upcoming big screen movie That’s My Boy is straight up comedy, co-starring Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg.
“It’s different than anything I’ve ever done before,” Meester said of the upcoming film. “It’s 100 percent comedy, very funny, super-raunchy. Adam is so personable, so good to everyone. I’ve never been able to improvise my own jokes and lines before, but Adam created an environment where that could happen.”
Meester is also setting her sights on a potential music career. As soon as Gossip Girl wraps up its sixth season, she plans to focus on recording her songs.
"Playing the same character for six years is great, but it's exciting to do other things ... I want to release an album by the end of the year. I probably have 20 songs ready but will release an album with 10 or 11."
