If you’re looking for a new food that’s good for you in multiple ways that you can load up on day after day, look no further than green tea. A glass a day (or more) will have you looking good, feeling great, and likely help stave off some nasty conditions down the road, too. I have been addicted (figuratively) to the stuff for years now, and I still can’t drink enough of it! Furthermore, green tea is quite enjoyable by itself, so it can be a great alternative to coffee if you have to add cream and sugar all the time. And as anyone could guess, it’s preferable to any kind of pop.
Next, green tea is also known for its antioxidants, known as catechins. These search your body for molecular villains known as free radicals. Free radicals have been proven to damage DNA, leading to cancer, blood clots, and atherosclerosis. Catechins dispose of free radicals for you, as your body can’t do it on its own. You can also find these kinds of antioxidants in grapes, berries, red wine, and dark chocolate (which is why you always hear about how some wine or chocolate everyday can be healthy). Keep in mind that green tea has been linked to staving off numerous other conditions too, such as cancer, heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, stroke, and dementia. Nothing is scientific law yet, but according to WebMD, there are numerous long-term studies being conducted around the world, like in Asia, where green tea is drunk virtually every day. In other words, citizens of countries that consume so much green tea have already exhibited great health when it comes to all of these conditions, and now scientists are pretty sure it’s because of green tea.
