To be honest, there’s not too much you can do to speed up the growth of your hair. The average person’s hair grows six inches a year, but you could be closer to four, five, or six. Who knows? Everyone’s genetic make-up is different, including rate of hair growth.
This doesn’t mean you can’t do anything to help out biology. While you can’t necessarily get it to grow faster, you CAN avoid doing things that would inhibit healthy growth. This is because your hair is often the first place that you’ll see negative side effects of unhealthy lifestyle choices come to fruition. In other words, if you’re not taking care of yourself, your hair will probably give it away.
For instance, try to keep consumption of caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, and especially drugs (obviously) to a minimum. People dependent on these substances usually stick out a mile away due to the unhealthy look to their hair. These might seem ridiculous, but there are many more common mistakes, such as lacking basic nutrition. If you don’t get all the essential vitamins recommended every day, it would behoove you to start taking a multivitamin. While you’re at it, start taking a daily fish oil supplement. These stimulate healthy hair growth, in addition to healthy nail growth, maintaining target metabolism, and promoting heart health.
Make sure you keep your hair in good shape. Use a quality brush so that you don’t get split ends and have to cut them out. Use natural oils like coconut oil on your hair when you shower. Don’t wash your hair everyday unless you have good reason, as this can strip it of the natural oils it needs to stay healthy.
