Your lifestyle, your quirk
You may remember the article I wrote quite recently about the importance of budgeting. Well, I’d never advise you to do something I wouldn’t. I’ve been working hard on my own plan, and have been at it for exactly two weeks now. That isn’t a lot of time to really mess up, but it’s enough to get started. If you haven’t started your own budget by now, what in the world are you waiting for? Use this online budget tool to help you get started.
The first week of my budget, I actually underspent in some areas. I allotted thirty dollars for gas and ended up spending none of that! There’s a very good reason, though: I didn’t have a car. I recently had to make an extremely big purchase (the biggest of my life), and now I have a car payment every month. It seems daunting to be eighteen with a commitment like that, but I know it’ll make me a more responsible person.
Now that I have a car payment, it’s important for me to save a bit of what I make every week for that payment. I refuse to wait until the end of the month to try and come up with money! I would definitely advise you to make a weekly budget as well as a monthly budget so that you know how much you’ve got to save each week for those bigger, monthly payments.
The second week of my budgeting endeavors has actually just started, but that isn’t a problem! I’m already working on balancing out how much I can spend on certain things and am trying to ensure I’ll stick to that. Last week, I ended up under-spending in “Gas,” but used that savings up in another area.
Of course, what with buying dorm items, it’s hard to stay on track. Don’t forget that everyone has unexpected expenses now and again. Just be sure to remind yourself of your goals and why it was so important for you to make a budget in the first place.
Budgets definitely decrease the amount of stress in your life. Having everything in order and laid out for you will take a load off of your mind. Just be sure to stick to the plan!
I hope you all do fine with your own budgets and that you have a wonderful week.
