This Combo Will Blow Your Mind

I don’t know about you, but I’m addicted to skincare. I love trying new combos and seeing how great new products are. I also love doing things for myself, so DIYs are something of an obsession. When you combine the two, you get great skincare for less.

Sometimes you happen upon a combination of ingredients that does more than what you intended it to. I came across one such combination just the other day. I was wanting to steam my face to open my pores for a mask I was using, and accidentally wound up with a great way to relax and perfume any room as well!

I often like to add certain ingredients to the water I’ll be using to steam my face with – citrus peels are my go-to for the most part. But I happened to have some mint as well, so I combined orange peels with mint in a bowl and microwaved it for five minutes. The smell was amazing, the steam was so gentle, and it made the entire kitchen smell wonderful!

The first thing this combo is great for is for steaming open your pores. This is a great way to detoxify your skin, brighten it up, and to allow any product on your face deeper access for better results. When you add ingredients in the water, you assist the steam in doing so. But before we get any further, here’s what you need to know about steaming your face! Read this article before doing any steaming, because it can be harsh if done wrong, and it can also burn your hands.

The second thing this combo was great for was aromatherapy. I’ve been having vivid, terrible dreams lately, and I thought that maybe a good mixture of aromatherapy and skincare could relieve those problems for one night. I was absolutely correct! The aroma from the mint and peels was relaxing and soothing, and I had absolutely no dreams the night that I did this. If you’re looking to relax or need to sleep better, I definitely recommend sitting a steaming bowl of orange peels and mint in your room!

The third and final thing that I found this useful for was perfuming in general. Many people use similar concepts to make their houses smell wonderful (think: Scentsy), but why not save money and do this yourself? Of course, everyone finds different smells attractive, so you may want to toy around with different ingredients. Different citrus peels, spices, and other natural ingredients are great to boil or warm for their aromatic effects.

As I mentioned earlier, this is the simplest thing to do. Simply place your peels and a few tablespoons of mint into a bowl and add in enough water to cover the ingredients. Then, cover with a towel and put into the microwave for five to six minutes. If your water is boiling after that time period, wait until it stops to remove and above all, be careful! Nobody likes burned hands.

I hope you all have a wonderful week.
