Get Smarter and Stay that Way!
Studies show that keeping your brain in shape and using different parts of it can keep you healthier mentally and stave off the effects of old age, including Alzheimer’s. All kinds of activities can help to keep your brain function above normal. Some are as simple as brushing your teeth, while others require a bit more time, like playing educational games. Yes, it sounds boring. Yes, they make them for adults. If you want to stay on top of everything, try playing a game or two a week and see if you don’t improve at remembering your keys, homework, and winning physics debates. Maybe not physics debates. But keys? Yes!
There are hundreds of online tools, but here are some of my personal favorites. (Disclaimer: I am not a brain doctor. I do not know whether or not these games have been tested by such doctors. They are fun and help improve brain function, but do not use this list as a guarantee that you will win a Nobel Prize.)
This is an entire site dedicated to improving to brain function. Sign up for your own profile, training schedule, and more. You get a few days free, but have to pay after that.
This is a game featured on the above site (Luminosity). Raindrops is great for those of us who can’t do simple math in our heads very easily (I’m one of them). Solve simple math problems as they come onto the screen, but hurry or you’ll drown!
Blogging – It may not sound like all that, but writing down your feelings, emotions, sharing fun stuff, etc. can be really stimulating.
This is another game I’ve played for a long time – Bloxorz! It’s a logic game that requires you to flip around a block until it falls into the designated hole – but it’s a lot harder than it sounds. If you like logic or puzzle games, you might find Bloxorz fun.
Of course, you can check out any of the puzzle games at Addicting Games for a little brain stimulation.
Games for the Brain is a little more straightforward. It’s a list of great games to play to help improve brain function, no questions asked! No profiles or money required, either.
Keep on training your brain!
