Getting Organized

Organization may sound boring, but it’s so important! Imagine if things weren’t organized in your brain. It’d be chaos! “Now, what’s my cat’s name again? What in the world is mayonnaise? Where did I leave my husband?”

If you couldn’t organize your thoughts, you’d be lost. The same goes for your living space. Leaving everything lying around is a surefire way to make you’re late, messy, and unhygienic. So get all of that stuff together and get organized!

Finances

You need a budget, pronto. If you don’t have a budget now, go here to make one, or check out our own article on the subject.  After you’ve done that, create a neat place to keep bills, checkbooks, etc. You can choose to pay your bills online (thus saving paper), or store them in a desk, locked drawer, cute bin, or other preferable storage place.

Dorm

Guess what, you don’t have any room. You’re in a dorm. Think vertical and invest in stackable storage containers, bins, or over-the-door shoe organizers. You can also use wall hangings like hooks and pocket organizers to help keep everything in order.

You also want a nice tech organizer. Invest in a good laptop case with a space for paper, your computer, your charger, and anything other laptop accessory you may need, mice and flash drives included!

Kitchen

One think I hate is a dirty silverware or utensil drawer. Take everything out of yours and clean out the drawer itself. You can purchase matting for the bottom at Walmart for only a few dollars, and it keeps dirt and dust at bay. Get yourself a nice utensil organizer and keep your forks, spoons, and the like in their place. Grab a knife block for things other than butter knives and either hand or designate a space for your larger tools (spatulas, grilling tongs, etc.).

You also need to keep that fridge clean! Throw away outdated food once a week and wipe down shelves and surfaces. The same rule applies to your freezer – if it has ice built up on it, throw it out!

Bedroom

Under the bed storage is perfect for the bedroom. You can also get those great vacuum-sealing storage bags or collapsible closet hangers. Try folding jeans and storing them on shelves rather than hanging them – it saves space and helps reduce fading and distressing the knees!

I hope you enjoy these tips on getting organized – everyone needs order in their life!
