This movie was nothing like I what I expected to see. Based on the previews, I thought it was going to be more of a slapstick type of comedy. I was quite surprised to see the movie was based on a true story. This was a good movie for the whole family. If you take your kids, please be forewarned about a part where they talk about the existence of the Easter Bunny.
The movie was sad, but at the same time it was a feel-good type of movie. After a family loses their mother, the father packs them up and moves out of the city. Quite surprised by his choices, he buys a zoo that comes with a staff. This was a very different role for Matt Damon, although I think he did a great job. The relationship between him and his daughter was charming. Scarlett Johansson looked beautiful as always, and she did a nice job playing the role of a compassionate zookeeper.
While this movie was sappy and predictable, it was better than I was expecting. I would have not seen this movie at all if it were not for my girlfriend, who insisted I go with her. Overall, I would give the movie 7 out of 10. This is definitely a movie that you don’t have to go to the theater to see, but you might enjoy renting it when it comes out on DVD.
