This is Crazy
We’ve all heard the so-called “Song of the Summer,” and you know what? It’s catchy. I am not a huge fan of pop, but Carly Rae Jepsen and her smash hit, “Call Me Maybe,” has really won me over. Since its debut, it’s become this cultural phenomenon. After Justin Bieber mentioned the song in a tweet, Carly said she started getting messages from Germany, and then all over the world, about her song, and it became a hit. The rest is history.
Since the release, a ton of people have uploaded their own versions of the song and of music videos; stars like Katy Perry and Ashley Tisdale have even uploaded videos of themselves lip synching to it. Since there have just been so many, I thought it might be fun to take a look at some popular do-overs of Carly’s original hit.
This list includes parodies, covers, and more. Enjoy!
- This is just a remix/extended version of the song. There are loads of other examples; people love to re-do Carly’s hit. This one is a mash up of dance tracks over the song, but it’s pretty good.
- Another popular take on the song, this is an acoustic version by Alex G and some of her friends. They’re dancing around onscreen, having a good time. I never heard any banjo in the song, but the girl singing is strumming one.
- I don’t know what to say about this. Sometimes, things in life go wrong. I’ll leave it at that. It’s obviously comedy, but still. I’ve never been so disturbed in my life.
- Here’s another funny parody; the girl singing is more of an actress than a singer. She uses a lot of Autotune, but the concept is good. She’s a nerdy girl obsessed with the guy of her dreams and knocks him out and ties him up in her house. Hey, it worked for me and Tye.
If you want to see more examples of people fawning over Carly Rae’s hit, just do a little YouTube prowling; it won’t take you long! I can’t believe so many people have responded to the song. I suppose, though, that’s why it’s being called the “Song of the Summer,” right?
I hope you all have a wonderful week!
