Miley’s Dubstep Career

Miley Cyrus has been in the news quite a bit lately. Her engagement to Liam Hemsworth was a big announcement (the September issue of Marie Claire is covering it) and the new haircut she got has been all over Twitter and caused quite a big stir. We can now add yet another check to the list, because we’re finding out that Miley is the female voice on Borgore’s new single “Decisions.”

The song is definitely dubstep and was actually released about two months ago. However, the project was somewhat secret and the duo (Cyrus and Borgore) wanted to get the public’s real opinion on the tune before announcing that Miley was the female singer on the track. Cyrus took to Twitter this week and announced her participation on the track, thought Borgore hadn’t planned to do it. "I had no idea she was gonna do it, but I'm happy that Miley likes surprises more than I do,” he told Rolling Stone. "There was nothing to hide from my side, nor from her side. It's super cool she did it the way she did it."

Now that the cat’s out of the bag, the DJ isn’t really concerned about the public changing their minds about the song. "If someone used to like the tune before he knew she was on it, and now he doesn't like it just because she's on it, he's lying to himself," Borgore said. "I think being nonconformist is being the biggest conformist."

The two are planning to film a music video for the track, and Borgore says he isn’t opposed to collaborating again. He says he’d be happy to work with Miley if she fit into the tune he’s playing and she wanted to sing on the track.

The song isn’t the same kind of step that Skrillex plays; it’s a bit closer to rap than Skrillex’s more unique, stranger beats. You could liken it to DeadMou5, but that isn’t exactly it either. So I’ll just let you decide for yourself! Listen to the track here. If you want to read a bit more about the news, head over to Rolling Stone.

Miley is certainly branching out from her “Hannah Montana” persona as she grows up. It’ll be interesting to see what the star’s next moves will be.
