Zac Attack!

in category of Opinions

Uggggh, I hate to admit it, but it seems like Zac Efron is growing on me as a tolerable celebrity! I want to hate that pretty face of his, but I can’t! Who am I becoming? Next thing you know I’ll be tweeting One Direction lyrics. ANYWAY...I’m not saying I want to see The Lucky One…but I wouldn’t be opposed to renting it down the road…and I might just put it on the very top of my Netflix queue as soon as it’s available…don’t judge!

To be fair, though, it’s not like I’m in LOVE with him like so many people out there. It’s like he’s following in Justin Timberlake’s footsteps, ya know? When I was growing up, you couldn’t have paid me to watch anything JT was in, whether it was a movie, music video, or interview. Fast forward to ten years later, and I’ll pretty much YouTube anything he does. I mean right? The guy can act. He’s got style. He’s quirky. He’s funny. He’s in critically acclaimed movies that are nominated for picture of the year! He’s officially crossed over from teen dream to a respected professional in the entertainment industry. I really think Mr. Efron is on his way to a similar fate.

I mean, did you see him on Ellen? He and Taylor Swift jammed out to “Pumped Up Kicks” while making fun of Ellen to HILARIOUS results. I didn’t even know either of them could play guitar, and I was pretty impressed. Anyway, his recent hotel shenanigans notwithstanding, I’m now excited to see what else he’s been up to lately, and that includes his newest flick, The Lucky One. I know, I know, it doesn’t exactly look like the best film out there, and really, Zac’s  track record isn’t anything to brag about (17 Again? Charlie St. Cloud? Eek!), but this one looks a little different.

I may not be a die-hard chick flick fan, but I did enjoy The Notebook (I mean, I have a heart), so I think this one could be a bit of a success. In other words, if I’m intrigued by someone, I’m gonna see what they’re in, to see if they’re worth my interest. I’m hoping that he does quite well, so my strange fascination is warranted. I don’t know if I’ll be able to deal with the fact that I’m a Zac Efron fan otherwise!
