On Thanksgiving Day I took my 16 year old son to see Immortals
, or should I say he took me to see the movie. Immortals, the movie, was not a top pick of anything I would ever want to see. I went to see this movie very reluctantly but my son couldn’t wait to see it. With my popcorn in hand, I sat preparing myself for a very long movie. In the beginning I felt as though I was watching my children play a video game and found my mind drifting in ways to prepare myself for the hour and 50 minutes of this movie.
Then the movie started to move into stories about the Greek Gods and I felt very out of place. The last time I learned about Greek Mythology was back in 7th
grade. I was wishing I knew this before I saw the movie so that I could have brushed up on my Greek Mythology. I tend to have a hard time remembering what I had for breakfast let alone trying to remember something I learned over 30 years ago. It’s important to point out that I never even had an interest in learning about Greek Mythology. Now, back to the movie………..see how my mind drifts. I embarrassed to say, but quite to my surprise I was very entertained by Immortals
The whole story line just seemed to fall into place, even with my lack of remembering Greek Mythology. There was a lot of violence which is not something I care to watch but I kept noticing my sweating palms, a direct result of all the action. Mickey Rourke, King Hyperion, was perfectly freaky and evil. This was the perfect role for him. As a woman, I very much enjoyed watching Henry Cavill, Theseus, the hero. Preida Pinto, Phaedra – the Sybelline Oracle, is an absolutely beautiful woman that any man would like to watch. Heck, even as a woman I couldn’t help but notice how beautiful she is.
This movie is available in 3D which we did not see. I can see how the 3D effect would only add to the action and entertainment of this movie. Immortals is not one of my favorite movies but I was surprisingly entertained. I have to say, all in all, I enjoyed the movie. My son of course loved the movie. Take the movie for what it is and you will be entertained.
