Sticking it to her critics, Jessica Simpson continues her postpartum weight loss. Six months after the birth of her little girl, the singer-turned-actress has reportedly lost 60 pounds and has just 10 more to go to reach her pre-pregnancy weight.
Jessica, 32, gave birth last April to a nearly ten-pound Maxwell Drew Johnson. She had done the talk show circuit at eight months pregnant and received a hefty dose of criticism for over-sharing about the many unpleasant side effects of pregnancy. However, the one side effect she didn’t talk much about was her weight gain, which left everyone to speculate. And boy, did they ever!
The media guessed that Jessica had gained anywhere from 50 to 80 pounds during pregnancy. Simpson’s rep confirmed a 50-pound weight gain at one point, but the final number was not revealed until recently – now that she’s lost most of it. But who can blame her? It’s none of our business how much she gained. It’s her pregnancy journey, and she can deal with the outcome however she wants.
Clearly, Jessica wanted to lose the weight. While still pregnant, she inked a reported $3 million deal with Weight Watchers to slim down using their point system. Jessica has stuck to the plan and has weekly check-ins and weigh-ins with her family members who are also participating in the program.
"It's really encouraging to know we're all going through the same struggle," Jessica has said.
Jessica’s Weight Watchers leader, Liz Josefsberg, recently told Us Weekly, "She's so focused and determined. She's very brave to do this in a healthy, more realistic way."
In addition the getting her dietary intake back on track, Jessica has helped tone her body back up with four visits to the gym per week, working with personal trainer Harley Pasternak.
Jessica’s trainer has nothing but praise for his client. He recently told Us Weekly, "In over 20 years, I've never seen as consistent of a weight loss. Jessica's right where she needs to be … She's gotten so much stronger."
Aside from a multi-million dollar deal to keep her motivated, Jessica also has a wedding to be excited about. Although she hasn’t set a date, Jessica has been engaged to her longtime beau, and Maxwell’s father, for almost two years. Now that they’ve had Maxwell and Jessica and Eric are getting adjusted to parenthood, perhaps they’ll be ready to finally plan that wedding and make it happen.
