Scary Soda

If there weren’t already enough reasons and research to make you stop drinking so much soda, maybe this will do the trick.

No, it’s not New York City’s mayor, Michael Bloomberg, and his giant soda ban. It’s a 25-year-old Australian man with a full set of dentures. Before having all of his remaining teeth removed, the cola addict suffered from blood poisoning. Well, I started off this article drinking a glass of ginger ale. I think I’m done with that now.Read More »

The Dye Job

in category of Beauty & Style, baldness, Colleen Walsh-Jervis, hair, wtf

January Jones is going bald. It’s not female pattern baldness or alopecia, and the 34-year-old seems too young to be affected by most female hair loss, but the actress has her own theory as to why her hair is falling out. Over the past year, Jones added pink streaks to her blonde bob, then changed her signature blonde locks to red, dyed them back to blonde, then gone back and forth between dark brown and blonde. Jones believes that the constant coloring is causing her hair to fall out.Read More »

Would You Put Perfume On Your Baby?

in category of Parenting, Lifestyle, Audra Rundle, Babies, perfume, wtf

One of the perks of babies is their smell, right? Everyone knows that. Babies smell like…well, they have their own scent that drives adults wild in the best way. It’s fresh, new, young, sweet, and completely unique to infants. In a sense, they smell perfect. This is my honest opinion, so I am shocked, disappointed, and a bit horrified to see the luxury fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana attempting to interfere with it.Read More »

Not So Marvelous Measles

in category of Weird News, Health & Fitness, Quirked, books, Colleen Walsh-Jervis, wtf

Though many of us have probably never seen measles firsthand because of successful vaccinations and immunizations, the disease still exists. Not only that, it’s extremely contagious and it’s staging a comeback. Don’t worry, though, because one author/mother/anti-vaccination advocate says that the measles are a “marvelous” adventure! She even wrote a picture book about it to explain how childhood diseases are beneficial to the body.Read More »

Sure, This Is Healthy

Losing weight isn’t easy, so doctors have come up with what is probably a gross and ill-advised medical procedure for those looking to shed pounds without changing their diets. Basically, you can now surgically implant a tube from your stomach and use it to pump food out after you eat it but before you digest it. Sounds a lot like bulimia without the vomiting.

If you aren’t grossed out enough already to swear off this procedure, there are a whole bunch of gross problems that will probably come along with it. Brace yourselves and set aside any food you’re eating.Read More »

Too Hot to Work?

in category of Weird News, Quirked, Colleen Walsh-Jervis, Stuff you didn’t know, wtf

In what may be a dangerous legal precedent, an Iowa court has decided that it’s all right for an attractive person to be fired if she’s “irresistible” to those around her. This holds true even if she’s not flirting or being suggestive – just if her looks make the family men around her fantasize about people other than their wives.Read More »

Flomo

No, it’s not a crafting clay and it’s not the name of an up-and-coming hip-hop artist. It turns out that it’s actually the name for fans of MMA fighter Floyd Mayweather Jr. and a company that sells party items. In the fashion world, flomo is the name of the newest print to hit clothing and accessories. Don’t like the name flomo? It’s also been dubbed “flamo.” Versace calls it “floroflage.” The trend is so new that the fashion industry hasn’t even decided on a name yet. The names, like the print itself, are the combination of floral and camouflage.Read More »

There’s an App for Cat

in category of Pets, apps, Colleen Walsh-Jervis, wtf

If you own a laptop and a cat, odds are one has been on top of the other. Cats seem to love the warmth being radiated from the keyboard, plus they can’t stand when something takes your attention away from them. Despite not being able to read and many of them lacking thumbs, cats are keeping up with the latest technology. They’ve now moved on to iPads. This move up to tablets may not have been as organic as the cats’ love of laptops: cats everywhere are being encouraged to embrace the iPad by developers who have created apps aimed at cats. Yes, there really is an app for that.Read More »
