Do You Redbox?

in category of Technology, Leo Pond
I am a movie junkie and a tech junkie. I rent my movies from Blockbuster online, I stream from Netflix, and I get movies from Redbox. At first I was intimidated by Redbox. Every time I saw one there was a line, but after using the service, I am wondering why there is a line. Redbox has over 35,000 machines across the country. If you are normal Redbox user, you go to the machine, look at the new releases, go through the screens of movies to find the one you want, if they don’t have it, you need to look for another. Make your selection; it pops out, you take it and leave. For many people this takes five or ten minutes; I have waited behind these people and it amazes me that they do this. Redbox has a website! You do not need to go to a stand to find your movie. Simply visit the website, pick a movie, and it will tell you where the closest Redbox is that has that particular movie. Here is the kicker—you can reserve the movie! I simply go to Redbox, hit “Redbox Pick Up,” swipe my card, and the movie pops out. Normally 30 seconds and I am in and out! So if you Redbox, Go to the website and do someone else a favor: reserve your movie and take less time at the box, I hate waiting in line! Source:  nytimes.com

Redbox Outdated

I thought the whole point of going to Redbox was a person's ability to stop off at a nearby kiosk and have movies available to them. I didn't like waiting in lines for a movie, but my options were limited, and it makes no sense to have to go around to different kiosks hoping they have your movie. And if I'm going to have to go online to get a movie reserved, I'd rather just stream the movie from right there. I now have the Blockbuster @ Home service from Dish, and with access to over 100,000 movies, games and TV shows, I'm never without a great title. A Dish coworker showed me how to use it, and I can either stream live, rent by mail or stop off at a BB store on the way home. It's more convenient, the selection is awesome, and I'm getting it free for 3 months. Done deal!
