Google Sues Itself?

Google sues itself if legal mumbo jumboGoogle has discovered that its law firm, Pepper Hamilton LLP, was also representing a patent licensing business that is responsible for suing the Google Android partners in January. Google is saying that Pepper Hamilton never notified Google that they were representing Digitude Innovations LLC. Pepper Hamilton filed patent infringement papers to Google on behalf of Digitude Innovations. The information Google has provided Pepper Hamilton was highly confidential and included information related to the Android operating system. This creates a substantial conflict of interest. How can this happen? Pepper Hamilton is responsible for 50 patents in Google’s pocket; 12 of them are specifically for the Android smartphones. Some say that with so many patent lawsuits flying around, some overlapping can happen, but get real—Google is huge, how can you have a client so large and so important and allow for overlapping? Obviously the lawyers involved did not study up on their client or on the technology they are representing. Source:  itproportal.com
