Judge Asks Apple Attorney if He’s On Crack

If you haven’t been paying attention to the tech world lately, you probably are behind on the Apple/Samsung trial over their similar-looking tablets. Apple is trying to prove that Samsung copied its iPad with its new tablet. The battle has been heated and lengthy, involving tons of evidence and witnesses.

Being the judge on this case has to be tough. Judge Lucy Koh has seemingly lost her patience with the case, as she made some eyebrow-raising statements to both sides.

Her most recent comment was when she asked an Apple attorney if he was on crack after he suggested they call up a lengthy list of witnesses. Apple attorney William Lee said, “First, your honor, I’m not smoking crack. I can promise you that.”

I don’t know about you, but I think it’s hilarious that someone so respectable and notoriously courteous would say something like that. Judges really are human after all.

Later in the day, Koh lost her patience again by saying she was “billing time because [they were all] being unreasonable.” She also has repeatedly denied some evidence Samsung was trying to use against Apple, like a video clip of a similar tablet from the 1980s.

This whole thing just makes me feel bad for Koh. Hopefully the trial ends on time and she can take a much-needed vacation.
