St. Louis Sights: The Spaghetti Factory

in category of Travel, Abby Lee Hood

This is the last article I’ll be writing about St. Louis – I’m actually in Kansas City right now, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to share a little bit about one of my favorite places to eat in the Arch’s hometown.

The Spaghetti Factory is definitely my favorite restaurant in St. Louis. It’s a yummy Italian joint that’s family-friendly and delicious, too! It’s located just a few blocks down from the Arch itself, and is in a beautiful old building. The décor is lavish, and when you walk in, you realize that the place is two stories. Upstairs, there’s a kind of loft/waiting area with comfortable overstuffed upholstered chairs and dark hardwood floors. The place is pretty dark, but in a comforting way, and when you walk down the stairs to the lower level, it’s even more so. The walls are brick, and there’s many antique furniture pieces on display.

The first restaurant opened on a drizzly day in Oregon in 1962, and since then, the Spaghetti Factory has become an international brand and franchise that serves over ten million customers every year.

I was at the Factory just this past week, and it was true to its delicious form. I ordered an original marinara spaghetti with mushrooms, and it was delicious! The marinara there is really fresh and great-tasting, like any good Italian food should be! They’ve got loads of good appetizers as well; the cheesy garlic bread is amazing, as well as the cheese dip and marinara dip.

The guys at the St. Louis location are really great about birthdays – we had three birthdays in the group, and we got some pie…and the entire restaurant sang the birthday song! (Well, the non-copyrighted original version.) Sometimes there’s a balloon artist there that will make everybody at your table amusing little hats and animals.

I hope you get the chance to check out the Spaghetti Factory – if not in St. Louis, then at one of their other locations. For more information, and for a list of locations, check out their website. You can also read a little more about the company’s history and see a menu for a better idea of what they have to offer! Best of luck, and have a great week!
