The Best Episode of Law and Order I’ve Ever Seen

in category of TV

Well, the kids at NBC have done it again. A couple of years ago, they came up with the best episode of Glee I had ever seen. They also showed me the best epic movie I had ever seen. Then only a few weeks ago they aired the best war documentary I’ve ever seen. Each of these was somehow fit into a half-hour, by the way. Anyway, tonight (April 26) Community somehow created the best episode of Law and Order I’ve ever seen.

That’s right. From the credits to the camera work to the lines to the transitions to the background chatter, this was a full-on episode of Law and Order. Instead of a murder mystery, it was about the destruction of a biology project - a homegrown yam named Pam. Blame shifted from one culprit to another until it got to Neal, who was trying to help out Vicki, one of my favorite background characters who hasn’t been around this whole season, so it may have just been my favorite part of the episode.

My second favorite part, however, was Annie’s sleek lawyer garb. Not many women can pull off a business suit like that, but I guess the flawless Alison Brie can. That girl is always beautiful, but have you seen her with curly hair? It would behoove you to do a Google search of her in one of her numerous photo shoots with flowing, loose curls. There aren’t many other women in the world who can match her beauty.

I think my third favorite part was the obvious absence of Pierce, played by Chevy Chase. For those who haven’t heard, Chase and showrunner Dan Harmon have had it out lately, as Chase has been vocal about his belief that he’s smarter, funnier, and more talented than Mr. Harmon. There’s actually talk about him not returning next year, so I wasn’t surprised that his part tonight was minimal. I think he only had four or five lines, right at the very beginning. Furthermore, his name was almost left out of the reworked Law and Order style credits! I guess I’m not a fan of Mr. Chase. He doesn’t really make me laugh. However, his absence from the episode tonight was hardly noticeable, because this was one of the best episodes of TV I’ve seen in years. I would have no problem if he does leave the show after all.
