Twilight Stars Ransacked Teen Choice Awards
Despite heavy competition from The Hunger Games, there appears to still plenty of Twihard Twilight fans out there – at least, according to the Teen Choice Awards last weekend.
Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1 was nominated for an impressive 12 surfboards (aka Teen Choice Awards). A record 134 million votes were cast this year, showing that, clearly, teens are still into the award show and definitely still into Twilight.
Jackson Rathbone, who plays Jasper, the sexy Southern gentleman of the Cullen clan, looked dapper arriving in a work-casual attire of a gray collared button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up and darker gray jeans. He seemed in high spirits upon arrival, providing the media with many silly poses and ear-too-ear grins. He must have known how well the movie was about to do at the awards show!
The leading Twilight actors Robert Pattinson (Edward), Kristin Stewart (Bella), and Taylor Lautner (Jacob) opted not to arrive via red carpet, although they were all three in attendance to accept their awards.
Stewart sported a pair of skintight black leather pants, black heels, and a shiny black and silver blazer, as is typical for her ’80s-inspired fashion. Her real-life boyfriend Pattinson matched her colors, with black pants and black jacket with white details over a blue and silver patterned shirt. Lautner opted for black pants, a white V-neck t-shirt, and a brown leather jacket.
Individually, Kristin Stewart took home two major awards; she won Choice Movie Actress: Romance and Choice Summer Movie Star: Female. Breaking Dawn – Part 1 as a whole won the Choice Movie: Romance surfboard.
The crowd went ballistic when Stewart, Pattinson, and Lautner’s names were called to receive the Ultimate Choice surfboard. They received the big award of the night in recognition of five years of reigning at the top of the teen adoration list.
All three of the main Twilight stars thanked the crowd for their support and ultimately gave their surfboard to the crowd. Lautner said at one point, “We owe everything to you guys. It's amazing you guys are still around and just as strong and just as loyal.”
The Twilight saga has now won a noteworthy 41 Teen Choice award trophies since the first film came out in 2008.
The Teen Choice Awards were held at the Bigson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. The show was hosted by singer and X Factor judge Demi Lovato and, to a lesser degree, Glee star Kevin McHale. The night featured highly anticipated performances from Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen, Flo Rida and No Doubt.
