Your lifestyle, your quirk
Well, The Office continues its middling season with another episode that was kind of hit and miss. However, it definitely had a few moments that were shining stars, which gave me high hopes for what will hopefully be another season. However, there were some moments that also had me rolling my eyes and counting down the seconds until the scene was over.
On the plus side, I really loved the strange interaction between Pam, Angela, Nellie, and Gabe. Gabe is a really funny (and quirky) guy who unfortunately isn’t showcased well enough on this show, but when he is given the chance, boy does he ever shine. Case in point – his joke about Korean soap operas. It’s a little too explicit to repeat here, but if you’re a fan of The Office, you’ll definitely want to Hulu this episode later, if only for that scene. Furthermore, I also really am beginning to like Nellie. NBC is doing a really good job of humanizing this woman, who used to be nothing more than a caricature. I always liked her, but I never really saw her as something with staying power. I also never believed she’d still be around ten episodes later, but here we are. Anyway, I think her line tonight, “I made a friend,” was pretty much the most endearing thing I’ve seen since my first I Can Haz Cheezburger meme. Besides, any woman who’s more interesting than Pam is welcome in my living room, especially when they dress better, too!
On the downside, I am not happy at all about this whole Andy going rogue storyline. This has been DONE! Michael Scott literally had this entire storyline not three years ago. Come on guys, is there really nothing else you can think up? Obviously, I want Andy to be happy, and I am OK with the fact that he will eventually end up back at Dunder Mifflin, but I’m wondering what role he’ll end up. At this point. I’ll be pretty disappointed if all this warming up to Nellie is worth nothing. I’ve definitely warmed up to her, and The Office is going to seriously stick around for a season or two more, we need some consistency.
Oh, and we need FUNNY cold opens! This week’s intro was definitely a letdown, just like last week. Please NBC, don’t make it three in a row!
