What a Trainwreck

in category of TV

I’ve never been a fan of Glee. I just haven’t. All of my friends absolutely love it and they will watch it until the day it’s pried off the air, and they are all incredulous that I still have no love for this show. I guess I don’t know what it is specifically…it’s more like the sum of many parts. For one, I don’t care about teen romance. I did when I was 15, and that’s why I watched Murphy’s first show, Popular, and other shows like Dawson’s Creek and whatnot, but now that I’m a full-grown adult with a big boy job and responsibilities, I don’t care to tune in to see what’s going on with Rachel and Puck or whatever.

Furthermore, I guess I’m not the biggest fan of Jane Lynch. Granted, she seems like a super cool person, and I have no problem with her gracing my screen. I hold no animosity toward her, but I also am not in love with her. She’s amusing, but not hilarious, and with so many shows on TV that are hilarious, I need more than just amusing to tune in. And I have seen quite a few episodes. Every time I fly, Glee is an option for in-flight entertainment, and I always choose it after 30 Rock but before anything on CBS.

Not to mention the fact that I keep hearing about how this show has lost its luster. Fans (and some of my friends) are dismayed at the uninspired plots this season, and now that LINDSAY LOHAN is going to be spending time on the show, I could not be more unenthused. I mean, if people are saying that your show is a turning into a trainwreck that doesn’t know when to stop (for example – keeping around graduating seniors for another go next season), why would you bring on the ultimate trainwreck to bring your image back? I’m not even surprised at the latest reports that she’s shown up late to filming.

I don’t know what’s gonna be worse. Lindsay’s stint on Glee (who’s she playing anyway? A coked-out transfer student?) or her turn in the new Elizabeth Taylor biopic. Who let her do that? I don’t know, but I haven’t been able to keep a straight face in anything Lindsay has done since Mean Girls, and I believe that was only successful because of her supporting cast anyway…ever since I Know Who Killed Me, I’m simply given up on her.
