Need a Hot Date? Bigfoot is Ready.

If you need a date for a red carpet event, you might be able to go with a Sasquatch!  Hey, everybody needs a little love, right? Well, on July 11, last Wednesday evening, Brian Wilson (no, not the Beach Boys singer) showed up to the ESPY awards with a really unique escort. The notorious bad boy and quirky baseball player went to the awards and walked the red carpet with a none other than…Bigfoot.

Wilson, a pitcher for the SF Giants, is known for his fastball and his zany persona, so it wasn’t really a surprise when he showed up with such a wacky date. And after all, there have been a lot of Bigfoot and Sasquatch sightings in California, so it only seems right that he’d choose a date from his team’s state.

Sasquatch is another name for Bigfoot. They have been described as big, hairy giants with large feet (thus the name), and are generally evasive and mysterious. There have been recorded Bigfoot sightings in almost all fifty states, and Animal Planet has an entire show, Finding Bigfoot, dedicated to investigating sightings of Bigfoot and identifying them in the wild. Wilson and his date certainly made a splash! There have been several pictures up on the web of the couple, and several websites have featured write-ups about it. Yahoo’s gossip site said, “They were definitely the hottest – and hairiest – couple!”

I couldn’t find mention of the event on Wilson’s official website, but I did get a chance to read his biography. He’s a Mohawk-rocking bad boy born in 1982, and made his Major League debut in 2006. He’s been a real character in the League, full of surprises and funny moments. In 2008, he even starred in his own reality show! (Who hasn’t these days?) So we definitely haven’t seen the last of Wilson’s good-timing nature, nor will we likely stop being entertained by his antics.
