Natural Soaps

in category of Naturally Organic, Audra Rundle

A few Christmases ago, I received an awesome homemade gift that changed my life in a small but important way. My sister-in-law’s mother made several different kinds of soap for everyone and let us pick out whatever we wanted.

The soap was so beautiful and smelled so divine that I had to stop myself from taking more than my fair share. I tried it out the next day, and the difference between it and the generic store brand I had been using was immediate and extreme. I was shocked.Read More »

Eat Your Veggies

in category of Parenting, Lifestyle, Audra Rundle

It’s a smart idea to eat as many vegetables as you can each day. You don’t really need me to tell you that, do you? You can explain the benefits of eating veggies to adults, and that alone should be enough to get people eating them more (although, sadly, if often doesn’t). Toddlers*, however, are a different story.Read More »

Adopt a Grandma

Audra realized she needed a grandparent in her life.
Audra realized she needed a grandparent in her life.

I lost all of my blood-related grandparents by the time I was five. I only really got to know one of them, and I remember feeling cheated throughout my youth and jealous of my friends who got to bake cookies and spend time with doting grandparents. The relationship with a grandparent is so unique – so fun! – and I wanted it.Read More »

Bryan Cranston: Awesomesauce

in category of Opinions, Quirked, Audra Rundle

Bryan Cranston just keeps doling out reasons to love him.  He captured our hearts as Jerry’s crazy dentist on Seinfeld; he made us laugh as the dad on Malcolm in the Middle; and he continues surprising us as the high school teacher/meth maker on Breaking Bad, but Cranston has yet another side to his diverse character – environmentalist.Read More »

Yard Work With Little Ones

in category of Parenting, Lifestyle, Audra Rundle, Working with kids

When my husband and I finally found our dream house, we were thrilled it had a big backyard with a great space for gardening. The problem we didn’t think about, however, was how we were going to maintain the yard and garden with a toddler desperately wanting to be part of the action.

When we first moved in, our daughter was almost 6 months old. I stayed home with her during the day while my husband worked. It was too late when he got home to start up the lawn mower or get much weeding done before dark, so it was up to me to figure out how to get it done while I was there.Read More »

Not Your Typical Romantic Date

in category of Extracurricular, Lifestyle, Audra Rundle, dating, relationships

I went on a date this weekend. It’s the first date I’ve been on in quite awhile, and it was absolutely amazing. I might even go so far as to call it my dream date.

There was wind in my hair, the drinks were amazing, the view was breathtaking, and I burned more calories than I consumed. A lot more.

(No, we didn’t do what you think we did.)

The date was with my husband…and it involved a 10-mile run through rolling hills.Read More »

Pets Can Be Green, Too!

in category of Green Living, Lifestyle, Audra Rundle, pets

As we learn about how our culture’s current lifestyle impacts the planet, more and more people are starting to make small changes to help reduce their ecological footprints. Whether it’s as simple as switching to organic grapes, or as dramatic as selling all of your material possessions and moving to a solar-powered commune, every little change helps. It’s wonderful to see people starting to take some personal responsibility and even encourage their family and friends to get on board.Read More »

Avoiding A Parent’s Shadow

in category of Parenting, Lifestyle, Audra Rundle, commentary

We are often defined by what we do. Like it or not, people naturally – and usually good-naturedly – start associating you with your hobbies. I like to run and did a few triathlons, so people often share running stories, ask me questions about training and running shoes, and sometimes ask to join me on a training run. I greatly appreciate that people consider me knowledgeable enough in my passion to ask me anything about it. I do the same thing to my friends who are great at their own hobbies.Read More »

Wine Just Got A Whole Lot Sexier

in category of Gossip, Quirked, Audra Rundle, booze, celebrity news

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. They are so beautiful, so successful, and such active humanitarians that I kind of want to hate them out of pure jealousy – but I just can’t. I can’t help but like them. I would never hate someone because of how they look – beautiful or not (by whose standards, anyway?!); there’s nothing wrong with being successful – isn’t that what we’re all striving for?; and the fact that they use their celebrity to draw attention to important topics and people in need is something I respect and support.Read More »

What’s In Your Food?

in category of Food & Drink, Lifestyle, Audra Rundle, GMOs

I’ve grown accustomed to looking past the fluorescent sale signs and instead seeking out the USDA Organic symbol on foods in the grocery aisle, but I’ve started seeing a new label out there, and it’s caught my attention. This new label depicts a simple abstract orange butterfly on a large blade of grass and a blue background.Read More »
