A Year of Cloth Diapers

Each time a family decides to use cloth diapers, the earth breathes a little easier.
Each time a family decides to use cloth diapers, the earth breathes a little easier.

Throughout my pregnancy, my husband and I talked a lot about how we wanted to raise our child. Luckily, we see eye-to-eye on pretty much everything parenting-related. Without going into detail about all aspects of our parenting preferences, one major point we want to make as parents is to raise an environmentally conscious child who respects this planet and gives back at least as much as she takes. One thing we agreed on to begin practicing from day one was to use cloth diapers.Read More »

Caspar BabyPants’ Biggest Fan

in category of Naturally Organic, Audra Rundle

Two summers ago, my husband came home from work one evening utterly beaming, saying he had a surprise for me. In most households, this might mean something along the lines of flowers, chocolates, a nice dinner, or maybe a surprise date.

Not here.

“Want to go to a concert this weekend?” he asked, his smile growing larger.

“Totally! Who are we seeing?” Thoughts of all my favorite bands shot through my head and my smile started growing too.Read More »

Wait - Mom Has a Name?

in category of Naturally Organic, Audra Rundle, parenting

I can still remember the day I realized my mom was a person. I mean, an actual person with a life beyond me. I was four years old, and it was a very strange feeling to put the pieces together that fateful afternoon; my mom was older than me, which means she did something on this planet for 32 years before I came along. What does a mom do before her kids?Read More »

A Lesson in Taking Pictures

in category of Naturally Organic, Audra Rundle

About six weeks after my daughter was born, a good friend of mine – and hobbyist photographer – emailed me to suggest we meet up for lunch. Soon. She wanted to give me some photography tips.

She must had seen what I was posting on Facebook and, as my friend, couldn’t stand by and let me
record my daughter’s history through such horrible photos. I greatly respect her knowledge of photography and was excited for our lunch.Read More »

Multitasking…with Children

in category of Naturally Organic, Audra Rundle, organization, parenting

I am a Type A personality – completely. As in, I could have been the prototype. I have been multitasking since I can remember. I write my grocery lists and plan my days while going for a long run or swimming laps; I pay my bills while pausing in a blog post write-up for inspiration; I can even brush my teeth and fold laundry at the same time. Yep, really.  Read More »

Good Neighbors Are Hard To Find

in category of Naturally Organic, Audra Rundle, Living Naturally, parenting

Neighbors. I worry that the meaning of this term is changing with the times. Neighbors used to mean people who lived in the same neighborhood who waved when you went by, got your mail for you and kept an eye on your home when you went on vacation, brought you meals when life events occurred to otherwise occupy your attention, occasionally invited you over for a barbecue, shared a glass of wine or a beer and good conversation on a summer evening…that sort of thing. Neighbors used to be a lot like friends. In fact, in most cases they were friends.Read More »

Holy tough guy, Liam Hemsworth! The 22-year-old actor may be the youngest Hemsworth brother, but he can still hold his own in a brawl. Hemsworth was captured on tape last weekend socking it to a stranger in the street outside of a bar.Read More »

Cold Weather Kiddo

in category of Naturally Organic, Audra Rundle, Living Naturally, parenting

Growing up in Seattle, there is one thing my daughter is going to have to get used to – rain. Although Seattle typically has a gorgeous summer, it always comes late (August and September) and is, at best, two months long. That leaves ten months out of the year where no more than a few days pass consecutively without rain, and there is a sharp chill as the seawater hangs in the air leaving everything perpetually slightly wet.Read More »

How I Talk To My Daughter

in category of Naturally Organic, Audra Rundle, Living Naturally, parenting

I am part of Generation Y – the generation where schools, daycares, babysitters, and parents were constantly warned to protect our fragile sense of self-esteem or we would grow up to be troubled, maladjusted adults who would consistently fail – all because we don’t believe in ourselves.  The idea of self-esteem was not necessarily new, but it was being treated with new respect while I was growing up.Read More »

Learning Life’s Lessons

in category of Naturally Organic, Audra Rundle

When I was about 7 or 8 years old, my dad gave me my first $5 bill and told me I could do whatever I wanted with it, but he would check back with me later to see what I’d decided on. I’m guessing he assumed I would spend it on candy, a new Barbie, some coloring books, or something of that nature. Instead, I decided to put it in an envelope and gradually added all the spare change I found in the couches, as well as all the dollars earned from doing odd chores for neighbors over the next few weeks.Read More »
