Mexican Quiche with Samantha Bann

One of my favorite breakfast meals is quiche. Now, breakfast has a tendency to become redundant. You eat scrambled eggs, toast, pancakes, and so on…but it gets old, right? There’s only so much you can do with the daily staples.

So here is a meal that is both a little bit different but always tasty. The best part of it is you can make it the night before let it cool and reheat in the morning while your coffee is brewing!Read More »

Eggplant Bruschetta with Samantha Bann

I ate at the most amazing restaurant for my birthday dinner. You will have to follow another column to find out the name, but they gave me an amazing idea for an hors d’oeuvres. I love finger foods or small bites because you get to sample so many different things, as opposed to just one meal. I also love doing family-style dinners so you can have a little bit of everything.Read More »

I love to have my friends and family over to celebrate – it’s the way I show my love for them. To see all the kids playing on the Wii, whether it’s tennis or bowling, or running in my yard, makes all the work of cooking all day worth every penny. After all, family and good friends are all we have.

If I could do it every day, I would. So I thought I would share one of my favorite hors d’oeuvres recipes with you. It’s a recipe that my friends and family beg for. Hopefully I make you shine as well!Read More »

Breakfast at Samantha’s

I woke up this morning to the delectable scent of pancakes and coffee. My nanny surprised me – how sweet of her, especially since she was about to take the week off! She is an outstanding cook; I have even entrusted her to help me prep food for events and make baby food for the families that I cook for.

(My pancakes are better, though.)

(I am just joking…but I would hate her to beat me at pancakes with my kids; that would be truly embarrassing!)Read More »

Albondigas Soup with Samantha Bann

I love the cold weather – it’s a break from the burning desert heat. I get to wear all my cool long-sleeved shirts that have been moth balling in my closet.

In my family I am famous for two things (well, maybe three). One is my sauces, the other is my soups, and another, well let’s just say it’s my silly behavior. I might be the black sheep of the family, but I am grateful that love is unconditional. Sometimes I think they might just put up with me for my food. I hope you consider that a joke (I’m also considered legendary for my bad jokes).Read More »

I would like to say sorry to all my readers for not writing, but you know how it is around the holidays and all the craziness they bring. You should know that this is my favorite time of year and my favorite holiday to cook for.

This year was stressful…I didn’t have to cook, and being who I am, trust me, it was ridiculously difficult. But of course I pushed my way into the kitchen.Read More »

Baby Food with Samantha Bann

Oh, the endless nights of no sleep, diaper changing, and walking the halls trying to get that cute bundle of joy to doze off for five minutes. If you are a mom or dad, you will know what I am talking about. But there is nothing like the first time they hold their arms out for you, the first time they kiss you, or the first time they say I love you. It makes every sleepless night worth everything.Read More »

Spinach Ricotta Lasagna with Samantha Bann

As we all know, my passion for cooking has always stemmed from one of my mentors, an Italian chef. I remember him watching my back as I made risotto his way, breading chicken the way his mother did and making pasta to his specific directions. When it came time to move on in my career and finish my degree at school, I felt as though I had lost a father. To have someone with so much passion invest all that time in me was astonishing; I will forever be indebted to him for that.Read More »

Life has a strange way of messing with you. One minute, you’re in the store just picking up some carrots you forgot for lunch and you meet the most amazing person…or you forget the carrots and turn around and something awful can happen. What I am saying is destiny can be powerful.Read More »
