Every Suz For Herself

“Why do you talk about zombies so much?”

That was the title of an email sent to me after I posted Sunday’s column about babysitting. In that article, I had a throwaway line about leaving someone to fend for themselves if their baby went bonkers during a zombie attack.

While I haven’t been keeping track, apparently I’ve made a lot of zombie references. Maybe enough to warrant asking why.

In short, I don’t know. I went back through a couple of my most recent articles and didn’t see a ton of zombie commentary, but I’m sure it’s around. I guess I like them.Read More »

Suz vs. The Two-Year-Old

in category of Bad News Suz, children are scary, Suz Baldwin

I have always quietly suspected children were, in fact, small demons.

That joyful twinkle in their eyes? Merely an interpretation of what is actually an unholy glimmer. Those cute, chubby cheeks? That’s where they store the flesh of their enemies. Their warm little hands? Sticky and groping, ready to destroy all of your electronics and everything nice in your home. Their darling, joyful giggles? That’s a rouse so you don’t realize they’re sucking the life out of you.Read More »

Sleeping In

in category of Bad News Suz, Suz Baldwin

I’m sure some of you remember my recent bitching about not being able to fall asleep. Finally, exhausted yet seemingly unable to snooze until the wee hours of the morning, I caved in and bought some Zzzquil. For those of you who are into the bad news, here’s my review of this anti-caffeine pill.Read More »

Anatomy of a Shindig

in category of Bad News Suz, Suz Baldwin

I attended a party on Saturday.

To be fair, it wasn’t marketed as a party—it was more of a late spring/early summer barbecue. Those who attended would eat, drink, and be merry, but there were no frathouse shenanigans expected, because we’re adults now.

Ha. Ha, ha, ha.Read More »

The Deluded Generation

Hang on to your hats, they’re trashing millennials again.

At least, I think they are. I’m pretty sure the present crop of teenagers still qualifies as the millennial generation.Read More »

Sleep is for the Tired

in category of Bad News Suz, Suz Baldwin

I haven’t been sleeping well lately.

In the beginning, I blamed it on the usual suspect: I’m actually a night owl at heart, and the entire concept of going to bed at a reasonable hour and waking up early just doesn’t jive with my natural rhythms. I have managed to maintain this tendency despite having a father who thinks mornings are just awesome and gets out of bed no later than 5 a.m. every single day.Read More »

The Queen of Stuff

in category of Bad News Suz, Suz Baldwin

I watched The Queen of Versailles the other night.

The movie, for those of you who haven’t seen it, is about David and Jackie Siegel, the obscenely wealthy folks behind “America’s Biggest House.” The house in question is a sprawling, 90,000-square foot monstrosity modeled on Versailles (yes, that Versailles), hence the film’s title. The house, by the way, was recently on the market, unfinished, for $75 million, because the Siegels ran into financial trouble (just like the rest of us).Read More »

Grow Up, Taylor Swift

in category of Bad News Suz, Suz Baldwin

For a long time, I thought my aversion to Taylor Swift came more seeing her splashed across too many magazines and featured on too many television shows than actually disliking her as a person. Yes, whatever, she’s popular and her breakup songs are anthems for the recently broken-hearted. No, I don’t understand why Seventeen magazine thought she would be a good relationship advice columnist.Read More »
